We take for granted that we have access to clean drinking water. Even though more than one in ten people globally lack access to it, it is difficult to fathom life without it. Accessibility to clean drinking water has a far greater impact on people’s lives than merely turning on a faucet. We have chosen to collaborate with charity: water for this reason. Learn more about our continuous collaboration and how enhancing your house can enhance your quality of life.
What does charity water do?
Charity: Water is an a charitable organization that works closely with regional organizations to create projects that are tailored to the needs of local communities and are locally owned. Charity: Water provides safe and clean drinking water to communities that are impacted by the global water crisis. Their approach is not a one-size-fits-all one, from water-filtering programs to village water pumps. Additionally, they put a strong emphasis on long-term, sustainable solutions to make sure that communities maintain access to clean water.
Why charity: water?
More than 15 million people have now gained access to clean water thanks to charity: water. This not only alters people’s lives, but it also has the potential to enhance entire communities .We wanted to collaborate as a community to support the transformation of other communities. Numerous advantages of getting access to clean water can be divided into these major categories:
Improved health
Better sanitation slows the spread of waterborne illnesses, which cause more fatalities than famine or war and 43% of which are in children below the age of five. The availability of clean water is said to be able to save 16,000 lives per week.
Education
For girls in particular, who are thought to be in charge of collecting water in eight out of ten homes, spending less time collecting water means spending more time in school and receiving a higher education. Girls do not have to skip school every month while they are on their period thanks to access to sanitary facilities with flushing toilets.
Supporting women
Each day, women spend 200 million hours gathering water. This translates to around 77 million days of employment annually. Women regain their time when they have access to clean water. Time that could be used for working or for education.
Economic opportunities
Everything grows when there is access to water, including local economies. Better irrigation results in increased crop output in agricultural areas, which benefits farming communities by promoting a happier and more successful local economy.
Our commitment
Every time a tin is sold, clean water is donated as part of our dedication to giving back as we expand.
Over the future years, we will sponsor initiatives all over the world alongside charity: water. And by the start of the next year, we want to give enough fresh water to entire villages in Madagascar and Cambodia. The first two initiatives we will support are listed below.
The communities: finding a solution
Cambodian bio sand filters
Despite the fact that water is plentiful in Cambodia, it is frequently unsafe to drink, especially in the rural areas where approximately 80% of the population resides. Many people are compelled to collect water from sources that are tainted with germs, viruses, and human waste, which can lead to sickness and waterborne diseases. The answer? We hope to provide funding for the setup of community Bio Sand filters in collaboration with Clear Cambodia. These filters make water safe for consumption by humans by reducing bacteria, viruses, and germs in it by up to 99%.
