“My heart is really to impact as many lives as possible. I take pride in helping people change their financial situations because not so long ago I needed a financial breakthrough so bad”
Two years ago, Des Amey was a struggling Assistant Head Teacher. Today, he is a Wealth Creation Strategist, Keynote Speaker, Finance Broker, Property Expert and Multi six figure earner. Placed in the the top 5% of income earners in the UK.
Des was born in Ghana and when he was two years old, he came to England and resided in Dagenham, not somewhere that was very aspirational. At the age of nine his father left the marital home; his Mother was left to be the main provider for him and his brother and she worked hard as a Nurse for over 30 years. There was never lot of money and he vowed that one day he would work hard to make a difference. His other installed in Des to get a good education, get a good job, work hard so you can get a promotion and that is exactly what he did. He went to school, university, trained as a teacher and worked his way up to an Assistant Head Teacher. However, despite this success he was struggling, living from pay cheque to pay cheque, having to use credit cards to see him through the month and at his worst he was in credit card debt of £30,000.
On the birth of his second child Des was desperate to turn things around for his family, feeling the like he wasn’t providing for his family he needed change.
The beginning of the change was when he read the book “Rich Dad Poor Dad,” by Robert Kiyosaki, who in his book talks about having several streams of income, leveraging time and earning a passive income. All the financial lessons that the rich teach their kids
Des decided to change direction and attended courses. He trained as a mortgage advisor, whilst working as a teacher and would work on mortgage cases in a small cupboard underneath the stairs at the school where he was teaching, he set up Amey Finance Academy in Canada Square, London. Although he had several streams of income, he realised he was not leveraging his time, because he was working harder, still exchanging his time for money.
He was approached one day by a friend about a business that could give him a passive income. In the new business he received training to participate in the world’s largest financial market and build a team to teach them to do the same. Des wanted to provide his team with value so he created further free training, zoom calls, mentoring and support. He has created a community of people whose aim is to help and elevate each other to achieve success. To date Des has helped and impacted the lives of over 1500 people.
Des did experience difficult times whilst building his business in the early days, he struggled with the no’s, that sense of rejection. Through reading self-development books he realised that it was all part of running any business, and part of the journey.
His work ethic is incredible, he is on the grind daily, phone calls, text messages, zoom calls and meetings. During lockdown he has been working doubly hard to help the team achieve their goals and dreams. Daily he has done back to back zoom calls for team members to help them hit levels within the company and his motto is “impact over income”.
Des has been able to retire his mother to Ghana and she is living the life she deserves. He is also been able to ensure his children are getting a great education sending them to private school. One of his goals is to build hospitals and schools worldwide that teach financial acumen. The goals and the people in the business are his main driving force. For him it is not about money but about helping people make a change and create generational wealth. That is what you call rising above and creating a
transformational change.
