According to studies, almost half of adults changed their behavior in the past year to become more sustainable. In a survey of 1,000 adults, it was discovered that new behaviors include reducing food waste (66%) utilizing reusable grocery bags (64%), and switching off lights at home (64%). Others are cultivating themselves fruit and vegetables (30%), washing their clothes on cold cycles (45%), and cycling more (18%). A third of people have even modified their eating habits to be more environmentally friendly, such as only purchasing local produce, avoiding things with plastic wrapping, and observing meat-free Mondays.
However, 68% of people already regard themselves to be eco-friendly, and they have a mean of five sustainable practices. Hyundai commissioned the study to launch the world’s first car-powered festival, which will include 12 of the company’s electric vehicles to highlight how innovation can contribute to a more sustainable way of life. Additionally, it was found that 4 out of 10 people who live in rural areas find it difficult to maintain eco-friendly practices, compared to only 16% of people who live in cities. The greatest obstacles to rural residents leading more sustainable lives were found to be expense (48%) and inadequate public transportation (45%)
Only 8% of people who live in rural areas consider themselves to be “very eco-friendly,” despite the fact that 72% have tried to reduce food waste and 69% recycle everything they can; however, 39% want to move there because it’s quieter, to take in the scenery, and to breathe cleaner air compared to in the city; and 50% of those who live there want to make it better, yet find it difficult because of the lack of the infrastructure.
The all-new KONA Electric, IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 were used by Hyundai Motor UK to power the village fair. According to Ashley Andrew, President of Hyundai Motor UK, “We chose the small town of Chettle as we were struck by its emphasis on protecting the stunning surroundings for future generations as well as acting in a more sustainable way, which aligns with our ethos.””As we go forward to a zero-carbon future, we believe that EVs offer numerous advantages and customer education remains a vital component of that journey,” the statement reads. “We believe the event inspires people everywhere to think imaginatively regarding what they are able to do in their own lives in order to make them better for the future.”
