Mets will talk to Juan Soto about hustle after watching would-be HR turn into single

New York Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said he said

Carrying the sixth entry in a cold night in Fenway Park with a 15 mph wind blowing from the left garden, Soto hit a 102 mph line to the left and stared while sailing towards the green monster.

The ball hit about two thirds from the road along the 37 -foot wall, and Soto could only handle a single.

“He thought about it,” Mendoza told reporters after the 3-1 defeat of his team. “But with the wind and all that, and in this baseball stadium, anywhere, but in particular in this, with that wall right there, you have to leave the box. So, yes, we will discuss that.”

Soto stole second in the first launch to the next batter, but the $ 765 million star ended in third place. Lolygaging denied in the Basepaths.

“I think I’ve bone bones quite hard,” he said. “If you see it today, you can say it.”

It is not uncommon for the balls to hit the green monster to result in singles: in the first entrance, Pete Alonso was expelled trying for the second base in a ball from the wall of the left field. But Soto had not been able to get hard from the box in a territory on Sunday night at Yankee Stadium.

“We will talk to him about it,” said Mendoza.

Associated Press reports.
