The star gardener of the New York Mets, Juan Soto, announced Wednesday that he will play for the Dominican Republic in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, which will be broadcast exclusively on Fox Networks.

It will be the second time that Soto plays in the World Baseball Classic, with the Dominican Republic 2-2 and will not advance outside the D D in Tournament 2023. However, Soto was one of the brilliant points of the team, reached two homers and left 6 by 15.

Japan beat the United States in the championship game to win the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

The Mets, of course, have a bad memory of the World Baseball Classic, since the closing of Edwin Díaz suffered a rollerian tendon torn in a pile of celebration after a victory of Puerto Rico in the previous tournament; Díaz lost the 2023 mlb season due to the injury.

As for Soto, five times Silver Slugger is in his first season with the Mets, who signed it with a record contract, 15 years and $ 765 million in the low season. Until now, Soto has totaled eight home runs and 20 ranges, while having a .255/.380/.465 line and publishing 1 dr in the right garden.

The Mets are at the top of the East National League with 28-15, which is the best record of the National League.
