The New York Knicks arrived at the East Conference finals in 25 years and ended the reign for the NBA title of the Boston of the Boston Celtics with amazing ease, reaching a victory of 119-81 in game 6 on Friday night.
Jalen Brunson and Og Anunoby scored 23 points for the Knicks, who will face the Indiana Pacers, the same team with which they are in their last appearance in the final of the conference in 2000. Game 1 is Wednesday night in New York.
The Knicks had a series of playoffs at home from the east of 1999. Then, the celebration began late in the first half of the only installment within the Madison Square Garden and would surely continue at night around the sand.
Mikal Bridges scored 22 points and Karl-Anthony Towns had 21 for the Knicks, whose 38-point Victoria margin was the largest in a postseason game.
Jaylen Brown scored 20 points for the Celtics, who lost the top scorer Jayson Tatum for a broken Achilles tendon in game 4, but believed they still had enough to get it in Boston for game 7 and keep their defense alive for the title.
It was clear quickly that it was not happening.
The Celtics led for at least 14 in each of the first five games, but this time the Knicks began quickly and continued advancing until Boston coach Joe Mazzulla, Bullen, his headlines in the third quarter after the deficit reached 41 points.
The Knicks scored the first seven points of the second quarter to put the 33-20. New York opened it with a 13-3 race that did 49-27, an increase highlighted by the 6 feet block 1 inch Call McBride in the Derrick White block that led to the second straight basket of Josh Hart while a foul was received.
Ben Stiller and Lenny Kravitz shared a handshake and a hug later along Celebrity Row, where the a-listsrs were standing and encouraging a lot, just like fans sitting near the top of the sand.
The Knicks led 64-37 in the part-time, an advantage of 27 points that coincided with their biggest game in a playoff game in the era of the shooting clock. They led the Lakers 69-42 in game 7 of the NBA finals of 1970, when Willis Reed’s return of an injury caused the Knicks to their first NBA title.
There were another three years later, but the Knicks have closed since then and it didn’t seem that this would be the year that could end after the Knicks were 0-8 combined against Cleveland and Boston, the two teams that end the subject.
But they won that they worry about the cavaliers and completely changed things against the Celtics, overcoming the deficits of 20 points in the second halves of both games in Boston to open the series.
Hart ended with 10 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists for the Knicks.
