Five college football rivalries that should be played annually

In Sports
May 14, 2025

There were some quite impressive university football news last week. Clemsson and Notre Dame announced a 12 -year programming agreement from 2027. That is great for Notre Dame because it blocks a marquee opponent in the coming years, which an independent needs to continue generating income.

From Clemsson’s perspective, you may be thinking that you already reproduce Notre Give me thanks to the ACCS programming package with Fighting Irish. But if Clemson did not establish this Farement with Notre Dame, the two schools would only face the duration of that 12 -year section. Clemson is using his leverage as a great program to anticipate the new income structure at the ACC, possibly blocking the greatest possible raffle to obtain the rewards of a system that will benefit the equipment that obtains qualifications.

This is really great that thesis two programs decided to do. However, I am still sure that it is a good thing for the thesis two programs and the ACC, because the more we allow the teams to make individual decisions, the more we will move away from a universal programming model.

However, there are more games like Clemson-NoTre Lady that must be programmed in an annual basis in university football. Other programs should take their advantage to the games that we want to see that management value, particularly in a regional base, which we could have lost in recent years due to the realignment of the conference.

So, here are the five rivalry games that we have lost that I want to see played in an annual basic again.

5. Notre Dame vs. USC

Did you know that there are no programmed notre-USC games after 2026? This has a series of legs since 1926, so we have had this rivalry for 100 years. The USC coach Lincoln Riley admitted that there was some uncertainty about the future of this rivalry last year, saying that it should be a way of blocking this game as an annual rivalry. This is definitely one of the games we need to have on our annual university football list.

This game is real one of the most historic sport. In fact, before Missouri transfer to the SEC in 2012, this game had played more than another rivalry game in the country. I know that this might not be the first game that comes to mind when people think of dream clashes, but this confrontation represents the university football fabric. I want to see that the “border war” is played in an annual basic again. The good news is that it is a home and house scheduled between the two programs for seasons 2025 and 2026, but they will not play again after that until 2031.

Two of the best programs in the state of Florida will play again in 2025, with the gaters facing hurricanes in Miami in week 4. But after that, there is nothing in the books between these two teams. They play each other in an annual base of 1938-1987, with some clashes classified between the two schools that occur in the 80s more recently, this rivalry has resurfaced in Spurts, with its confrontation this next season being the second year of a two-year programming agreement. Also with UP at the Sugar Bowl 2001. But the children who go to Florida and Miami play each other their lives and then go to these schools and do not play again.

Of course, there may be some proximity bias and personal prejudices, but Colorado and Nebraska have to play every year every year. I grew up in this rivalry and really made me fall in love with university football. If he looked from the mid -1980s to approximately 2005, this confrontation determined the Big Eight champion or the winner of the Norte Division Big 12. Of course, there a few years when Kansas states coincided with those two, but the bets were high in this rivalry for a long time. The two programs have tried to bring it back here and there since they stopped playing at the same conference in 2011. They play others in a home and house in the 2023 and 2024 seasons, but there is no skull of any game.

I want Bedllam to come back! You talk about not lost love, this rivalry has that. Unfortunately, there are no games between the thesis two rivals in the state scheduled. Oklahoma’s athletics director Joe Castiglione said they did not reach the 2030s that we could see that this game happens again. That is an annoyance, and we should be better than that in university football. It is a pity that we are not playing games that represent the true fabric of university football, and Bedlam is definitely one of those games.
