Sometimes they ask me (patients and their colleagues ask me why I attend so many plastic surgery meetings and why I spend so much time preparing conferences and participate in plastic surgery societies such as BAAP (British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) and ESAP (European Society of Sursons Plastics Aesthetic).

The answer is that there are many reasons! It is true that conferences in meetings require a lot of time. Not only do I need to take the time to attend the meeting, but I need to spend time preparing my conferences. I talk about many issues, but more commonly about facial and breast aesthetic surgery and the management of aesthetic plastic surgery and professional issues. To talk about these, I must review my cases and techniques, to be up to date with medical literature and to be able to give important and succinct points to my audience. Education and training are very important for patient safety and the quality of the results. To borrow a phrase of our students’There is no training today, there are no surgeons tomorrow! ”

Participation in plastic surgery societies also takes time, but there are many problems that affect both national and international plastic surgeons. These may be related to training and education. But they can also relate to patient safety, regulation and intrinsic practical issues to be able to execute a good practice of plastic surgery. As you can understand, this also takes time and preparation! I am the vice president of the BAAPS with a commitment to the president of Bee from 2024 to 2026, as well as the Secretary of ESAP.

However, without participating in plastic surgery societies and commitment to the other bodies that regulate and interact with us, we have no influence. We know plastic surgery better than anyone, as you know your work areas. We always strive to improve plastic surgery and how it is given: the patient. To do this better, we need to be set into the policies and committees that shape and affect this.

While all the above are the altruistic reasons to be part of the meetings and societies of plastic surgery, the truth is also that it is personally gratifying to be intolished as well. I learn a lot and also improve my results. I also know many national and international colleagues. We exchange tips and pearls and share our experiences. We also build strong friendships and form a community together. So yes, me Close Go to many plastic surgery meetings and I Close Stay involved in plastic surgery societies!
