Like mom or two Energy children, I am always looking for outdoor adventures that will burn part of their endless energy while keeping us all entertaining. This year, we have decided to make the most of our weekends and summer vacations exploring more of the incredible field of England. We are ready to tie the mountain boots And package the backpack with the essential elements of the walk, so if you are looking for walks that are easy with small legs but still full of emotion, here there are five that are on our list of family desires!
-
Winnats Pass & Mam Tor, Peak District
Distance: 3 miles (4.8 km)
Difficulty: Easy to moderate
Mam Tor, also known as the “trembling mountain”, is one of the most emblematic places in the Peak district. The walk to the summit is short and steep, but it is worth it for the panoramic views of the hills and the dramatic limestone crests. It looks like the perfect place for children to run ahead along well -paved roads, feeling as mini adventurers conquering their first mountain. There is also the entrance to the nearby collapsed road, which makes it an interesting stop in boxes. And for an additional adventure, we plan to visit the nearby Caverna Speedwell or Blue John Caven to explore underground!

Lulworth Cove A Durdle Door, Dorset
Distance: 2 miles (3.2 km)
Difficulty: Easy to moderate
This coastal classic is one that we cannot expect to mark our list! Starting in the perfectly round of Lulworth Cove, the path takes you along a soft but slightly mountainous road before revealing the famous Durdle, a natural limestone arch that is simply impressive. Rocky formations and transparent waters are fascinating, which makes it an ideal place for the beach and rowing. The road can be a bit high in some places, but the impressive views make it worth each step. We will definitely pack a picnic to enjoy while bar in the sea views.

-
Rydal Water & The Coffin Route, Lake District
Distance: 3 miles (4.8 km)
Difficulty: easy
The district of Los Lagos is full of incredible walks, but Rydal Water is on our list of forced visit places. The route is a charming circular road with a mixture of trails for the forest, soft earrings and impressive views of the lake. The name “Route de Crúd” comes from its history as a path that used to wear coffins from Rydal to Grasmere, but do not worry, it is said that it is more peaceful than creepy! Children will love to detect waterfalls and sheets of stones in the water, and plan to explore the small cave along the way. A visit to the old Wordsworth house, Rydal Mount, will add an educational turn to our adventure.
-
Puzzlewood, forest or dean
Distance: 1.5 miles (2.4 km)
Difficulty: easy
Puzzlewood seems direct from a fairy tale, and we can’t wait to experience its magical charm! With roots of twisted trees, moss covered rocks and hidden halls, it is easy to see why this old forest inspired the middle earth of Jrr Tolkien. It also has a leg used as a filming location for ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Doctor Who’, which will make our children even more excited to explore. Unlike a typical walk, this is discovery: wooden bridges, caves and unexpected surprises in each corner. It will be an adventure playground completely created by nature!

-
Tarn Hows, Lake District
Distance: 1.8 miles (2.9 km)
Difficulty: easy
For a super relaxed walk with an impressive landscape, Tarn Hows is at the top of our list. The circular route is well paved and friendly with the stroller, which makes it ideal for families with younger children. We are eager to detect the cows of the highlands that often look close and explore the small currents along the way. The calm atmosphere makes it the perfect place to reduce speed, enjoy view and let children run free. With many banks along the route, it is an ideal place for snacks and absorbing the beauty of the district of Los Lagos.
Final thoughts on family walks
Explore the field as a family is such a rewarding experience: it moves children away from the screens, burns energy and fills their adventure minds. Whether climbing hills, exploring caves or wandering through enchanted forests, these walks are at the top of our desire list, and we cannot expect to mark them.
