Jacques Cardoze has long been associated with major news reports and investigative journalism in France. Over the course of nearly 30 years at France Télévisions, he covered war zones and societal crises across the globe. Today, he pioneers a hybrid media model that blends technology, ethics, and team spirit through his latest venture, JC Enquête.
From Ballet to Journalism: The Art of Storytelling
Raised in a family of intellectuals and artists, Cardoze first made a name for himself as a classical dancer. At just 16, he joined the prestigious Comédie-Française ballet. However, at 21, he shifted his focus to journalism, driven by a deep passion for real-life stories.
As a result, his early years at France Inter marked the beginning of an exceptional career. Soon after, he became a frontline reporter for programs like Envoyé Spécial and Un œil sur la planète. Eventually, he rose to head the international department at France 2.
During this period, his assignments took him from Pakistan to Iraq and from Haiti to the tsunami-stricken coasts of Thailand. Consistently, his reports stood out for their humanity and depth. From 2009 to 2018, Cardoze served as France Télévisions’ foreign correspondent in London and Washington. Notably, he was the only French journalist to interview Donald Trump during the 2016 U.S. presidential campaign.
Anchoring Investigative Journalism
In 2018, Cardoze took charge of Complément d’Enquête, one of France’s most respected investigative programs. This new role allowed him to combine his love of storytelling with journalistic rigor. Moreover, he mentored young talents, many of whom now work for France’s biggest news programs.
Beyond the camera, Cardoze served two terms as president of the French Television Journalists’ Society. Through this position, he advocated for ethical, honest journalism in an increasingly complex media environment.
A Passionate Detour to Olympique de Marseille
In a surprising yet emblematic turn, Cardoze joined Olympique de Marseille in 2021 as the club’s Communications Director. Although it seemed like a detour from journalism, this role highlighted his versatility in narrative-building and public messaging. Thanks to his experience, he successfully managed both the club’s external image and internal communications during a particularly high-profile period.
JC Enquête: A New Chapter in Ethical Media
Today, Cardoze channels his rich, multifaceted experience into JC Enquête, a media project designed for the digital age. Blending traditional reporting values with modern technology, the platform is committed to ethical reporting, transparency, and collaborative investigations.
Furthermore, it functions as a community-driven initiative aimed at rebuilding public trust and giving audiences a voice in journalistic inquiry. Drawing on his years of experience in conflict zones, presidential campaigns, and corporate boardrooms, Cardoze brings a rare, wide-ranging perspective to this new venture. Ultimately, his leadership continues to shape a new kind of journalism — one where truth-seeking, innovation, and social responsibility meet.
