
Affiliation will allow groups to generate high -value care and innovation
Portland, Ore, April 16, 2025 -The permanent northwest (NWP) based in Oregon and the Permanent Medical Group (TPMG) or Northern California announced a formal affiliation today. NWP and TPMG are independent permanent medical groups led by doctors who are associated exclusively with Kaiser Foundation Health Plan to provide care for their patients in Oregon, Southwest Washton and Northern California.
The affiliation between NWP and TPMG strengthens the commitment to high value care and quality driven for their patients and communities. Both groups have a shared mission to provide high quality profitable attention that achieves higher clinical results. When collaborating with the clinic, sharing innovations and supporting doctors and staff, NWP will improve the quality of care.
According to Leong Koh, MD, executive medical director of Northwest Permanent, the medical care industry is experiencing massive changes. “The consolidation of hospitals, medical groups and health plans are produced through the United States,” said Dr. Koh. “Most transactions focus largely on size, scale and finance. What is different and exciting about our affiliation is our shared belief in value based on value. Both groups have walked the walk and have achieved results of higher and equitable patients, created satisfactory environments to practice medicine and committed to managing the costs associated with care.”
After the affiliation, Maria Ansari, MD, FACC, CEO and executive director of the Permanent Medical Group and President and CEO of the Mid-Atlantic Permanent Medical Group (MAPMG), assumed the role of CEO of Northwest Permanent. Dr. Ansari also serves as the co-election of the Permanent Federation, the National Leadership and Consulting Organization for permanent medical groups, which, with the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and the Kaiser Foundation hospitals, include permanent Kaiser.

NWP is the largest multispecial medical group in Oregon and southwest Washington, with a history of 80 years of strong performance and community growth. Its more than 1,300 doctors cover 54 specialties and provide attention to more than 612,000 permanent members of Kaiser in the region.
TPMG includes almost 10,000 doctors in 116 specialties, providing care to 4.6 million members in California. Kaiser permanent in northern California received 4.5 stars of a maximum 5 in the centers for stars ratings 2025 Medicare and Medicaid services; For the seventh consecutive year, Kaiser Permanent resorted 5 of 5 stars in the quality rating of the Health Plan covered by 2024 California; And for the ninth consecutive year, its commercial and Medicare plans in California were the highest in the State for the National Quality Guarantee Committee in 2024.
Since 2009, TPMG has been affiliated with MAPMG, based in Maryland, which includes almost 1,800 doctors in 60 specialties, providing attention to more than 768,000 permanent members of Kaiser in the region.
The affiliation transaction was approved by the health market supervision program of the Oregon Health Authority (HCMO) on April 11, 2025.

Update
The formal affiliation between the permanent medical group and the permanent northwest will focus on innovation and operations, including:
- Information Technologies: After AI Ai Ai Ai Ai Ai Ai, successful NWP pilot launched the technology last summer. Next, NWP will launch electronic visits developed by TPMG to relieve the path of care for patients and rationalize messages to doctors.
- Hospital care model: NWP will work with TPMG in the Hospital Model for Telecito care and care, a virtual care program for patients at the ICU.
- SUPERIOR ATTENTION: Both medical groups are dedicated to improving care for older patients. NWP is exploring opportunities with TPMG leaders to implement surgical care programs in Oregon.
- Population health: NWP and TPMG are rooted in the commitment of permanent medicine with the health and equity of the population. TPMG teams share programs for the management of diabetes to support patients in NWP.
The affiliation will also strengthen the doctor’s welfare and leadership programs. Both TPMG and NWP have earned the recognition of Ama Joy In Medicine and working together will allow greater shared use and best practices to support doctors and staff.
