Background of Daniel Buser
Prof. em.. Daniel Buser has made significant contributions to the field of Implant Dentistry for more than 35 years. As a Professor of Oral Surgery at the University of Bern (2000-2019), one of the top-10 ranking Dental Schools on the globe, he has been involved with his team in pre-clinical and clinical research focusing on topics like implant surfaces, bone augmentation procedures and surgical protocols for implant therapy in partially edentulous patients. This type of research
is today called translational research for the benefit of patients. With his team and a broad international collaboration with many university groups, he has authored and co-authored more than 400 publications, review papers, and book chapters, many of them landmark papers with high citation rates.
The Vision of Global Knowledge Sharing with an excellent Streaming Technology
In close collaboration with his close friend Prof. Anton Sculean, a specialist in regenerative periodontal surgery, the Buser & Sculean Academy started in 2020, forced by the COVID-19 pandemic, to offer the highly specialized Master Courses with a hybrid set-up. This offering allows for either a traditional on-site participation in Bern, including hands-on workshops. This requires traveling to Bern and staying in a hotel for the duration of the 3-Day Master Course. The alternative is online participation using a high-quality streaming technology, either live or on-demand. The latter one, à la Netflix, gets
more and more popular these days, since it does not require travelling, no hotel stay, and absence from home without clinical practice. The streaming platform is offered for 4 months, 7/24, which means the participants can watch and listen whenever they want. The platform is often extended when a high demand requires it. Another big advantage of the streaming technology is the ability to invite speakers to share their knowledge with a webinar-type lecture using digital
technology as well.
