World Record
Zoë Doyle alongside her teammates Kirstie Booth, Maria Shaw and Nicki Strurzaker, broke the W45 age group 4x800m indoor relay record by 37 seconds.
Zoë began her journey as a competitive middle track athlete in 2015.
“My sporting career began when I was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis type 2, a very rare chronic disease, after having my first child. I became interested in health and well-being. After my third child I started competing to get my fitness back. I entered a triathlon, started adult swim lessons, and won the triathlon. I enjoyed the goal and challenge of competition and I was good at it. I started working in the fitness and well being industry as a triathlon coach.”
“After a near fatal car accident during a race I decided to join a running club to be able to compete safely. I joined Belgrave Harriers and was part of the very successful ladies team. I started competing on the track internationally in 2015 after being ranked number one in the UK for 800m and 1500m, for my age.
Exercise and well-being, mind, body and soul, are important to every aspect of my life. They keep me healthy, happy and my liver disease under control.”
Zoë has achieved a World record, is a World champion, European Champion, British record holder, in the 800m and mile.
Ten years later she is still achieving pbs and getting faster.
“I have spent many many hours in the gym and pool coming back from seven stress fractures. My secret is that I never give up. I love challenging myself training, competing and working on every aspect of myself as an athlete. I enjoy the connection and support I get from the running community. I feel privileged to still be able to compete at a high level and show others age does not have to be to be a limiting factor to high performance. Chronic illness has taught me to prioritise my health physically and mentally and this has taken me on a path to helping others as a holistic empowerment coach”.
