GB&NI team selected for the 2025 European Athletics Team Championships

The team of Great Britain and Ireland of the North for the European Athletics team championship has been announced today.

The upper division of these championships will take place in Madrid, Spain, June 26-29. A 42 athletes strong squad represents GB & nor will it go against another 15 countries over four days of competition.

The athletics of the United Kingdom has selected a complete team with the aim of achieving the best possible team in the championships, taking into account the current form.

Of those selected, ten athletes will make their senior international debut. Two or them; Gemma Tutton (Coach: Richard Pilling, Club: Lewes) and Owen Heard (Kate Rooney, Harrow), will start the team with the jumper competition with pole that will take place on the afternoon in front of the gardens of the Royal Palace.

The 4x100m female relay team comprises three of the team that won a silver relay medal at the Paris Olympic Games: Desiree Henry (Lymphord Christie, Enfield & Haringey), Bianca Williams (Lymphord Christie, Thaman Lansiquton)

The GB & nor does the team have a rich history in this competition, with the 2021 edition the last time the GB & nor ended on the podium team, winning the bronze medal.

“With 42 athletes representing the GB & Ni team, including several senior debutants and established international artists, this event plays a crucial role in its development and season plans.

“Competing in Madrid against the best in Europe will be a key milestone for a milestone for many while looking at the World Championship later in the year. I am sure that the team will face the challenge and wait for the team in Spain.”
