
Emile Cairess (Coach: Renato Canova, Club: Leeds City) and Calli Hauger-Tackery (Nick Hauger, Hallamshire) have been selected to represent Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the Marathon of the World Athletics Championship in Tokyo.
Cairess wins the selection after a series of exceptional performances, including a third place in the London TCS 2024 marathon and an impressive fourth place in the Paris Olympic Games later that summer.

Hauger-Tacackery has also impressed in the global stage, producing two outstanding races over a period of seven months. She published a better life or 2:21:24 in the Berlin Marathon in September before returning with a 2:22:38 for sixth place in challenging conditions in Boston this April.
Both athletes earn online selection with the criteria described in the 2025 World Athletics Championship Event Selection policy.
