More Than Half of Small Business Founders Have Experienced Burnout This Past Year

With the week of awareness of mental health well and truly underway, Virgin Startup is highlighting the mental health of small businesses and the challenges they face.

According to the new investigation of the non -profit organization, more than half of the starting founders reported that the exhaustion of the experience this year, and one in five says that their levels of mental health and stress have worsened in the last six months.

But despite fighting with their mental health, the pressure of being a founder means that 31% say they simply do not have enough time to improve their well -being.

It is clear that something that needs to change.

What is pressing modern founders?

While executing a startup is never an easy company, founders have certainly had a difficult time recently.

In the United Kingdom in particular, the last 3 years have made business owners contribute to prices that increase by 20% according to statista. This was not only promoted by high goods costs, but also high interest rates, which makes loans incredible.

In addition to this, the United Kingdom Government has incessant income tax rates, as well as the increase in the contributions of the National Employer Insurance. Because of this, now it costs more than ever paying and retaining talent.

What helps founders to feel better?

When asked what helps with their mental well -being, 38% of the founders said they simply prohibit a break made a difference.

Family support (37%) and friends (31%) also played an important role, which shows the importance of a strong support network for the well -being of the founders.

The community also matters. Almost one in six founders said that spending time with other founders helped improve their mental health. Meanwhile, 15% found that face -to -face events and network sessions are useful for both the mentality and motivation.
