Nvidia says it is not sending GPU designs to China after reports of new Shanghai operation

“We are not sending any GPU design to China to modify to meet the export controls,” said a spokesman in a statement to CNBC.

A source familiar with the matter told CNBC that the company is renting a new space for current employees, but does not send any IP or GPU design there. The source said that this is a continuation of the company’s long presence in China.

Financial Times was the first to inform the news, citing two sources familiar with the matter. CEO Jensen Huang discussed the new potential center with the mayor of Shanghai, Gong Zheng, a visit to the last month, the FT reported.
