Around £ 102 million in new funds will be committed to expanding and modernizing GP surgeries, says the government.
More than 1,000 surgeries will benefit from cash impulse to update and create additional space for doctors to see more patients. It is the largest public investment in facilities for five years, according to the Department of Health and Social Care.
The Secretary of Health, Wes Streeting, said: “These are simple solutions for our GP surgeries, but a long time went to ruin, allowing waiting lists to build and stop doctors who serve more patients.”
The projects are part of the broader plans of the government to review the health service, and will begin this summer.
“It is only due to the necessary decisions that we enter into the budget that we can invest in GP surgeries, start addressing the delivery and delivery services of 08:00 for patients,” Streeting added.
The long waiting times for GP appointments mean that many people now try to reserve an appointment on the same day. The “Scrable of 08:00” refers to the moment when many GP surgeries open their telephone lines for reservations in the day.
A little less than 45% of all GP appointments in March of this year, Tok Place the same day were reserved, according to NHS England.
The British social attitudes survey, publishes last month, found that only 31% of people in the United Kingdom were satisfied with NHS GP services, compared to 68% in 2019.
The research carried out by the Institute for the Government, an independent group of experts, found that the patient’s satisfaction with the headers had fallen significantly from the pandemic, driven by less quotes in personnel.
About 80% of patients saw a header in person in 2019. For last year, which had fallen to 66%.
Ruth Rankine, Primary Care Director of the NHS Confederation, said doctors would welcome the impulse of £ 102 million to “provide high quality care, closer to home and suitable for the 21st century.”
“If we take the attention of the hospital to the community seriously, from the disease to prevention, and from analogous to digital, then the sustained investment in primary and community properties, equipment and technology is vital,” he added.
It is not clear which of the 6,252 GP curvisions in NHS England will benefit from the new financing.
Last month, the government announced that it would expand a scheme to help head doctors to provide care to patients without admitting them to the hospital, backed by £ 80 million in funds.
