There is the possibility that after 15 marathons I have relaxed me too much about things and make interesting decisions … how to wear new shoes on race day, or try our beet load for the first time.
One of those things turned out to be a good decision.
The other did not.

I plan to make a complete review of coaches Adidas Adizero Evo SL that I used in the race, but spoiler alert, I really liked (although they didn’t make it much grip on Wet Road). And the beet/nitrate load (spoiler alert, don’t do what I did and make sure you try them before the day of the race!)

Berlin Marathon 2024 Race Summary
Berlin Marathon was running with Westin and very happy to be in the career course this year after encouraging last year. I have executed Berlin once before in 2014 and remained as my PB with 3.49 for a long time. Honestly, I don’t remember much of that race because I was so focused on a sub 4 end, so my main goals this year were to look up, take it and have fun.
Staying in Westin Grand Berlin
The morning of the race began with a coffee and rice Krispie Square in the bed (if you have ever stayed in a Westin before knowing that the heavenly beds are difficult to leave!) Before taking a bicycle bicycles of the hotel and ride a bicycle to leave my bottles. Each Berlin marathon runner is allowed their own bottles in the course, you just need to have them labeled with their name, bib number and the KM score in which you want it to stay. These should be left in a morning special races between 7 and 7.45 am looks at my reel on how this actually worked.
Fortunately, staying in the Westin Grand Berlin so close to the starting line meant that I could leave my bottles and return for breakfast.

It may have a leg too relaxed and not anticipate the starting area to be as chaotic as it was (the exhibition was also a butcher shop with crazy lines to enter and buy its career merchandising, both for the German efficiency Vull Vull Vull joking!) Read my career recapitulation of 2014.
I also lost my start wave because the gap to reach the pens was so small that it was causing great delays, so people tried to jump the fence (I actually did this in 2014, but this threatened the volunteers of the race.
Begin!
The weapon shot and planned to run and try to find Thomas and Aubrey to believe in the race I had seen starting in front of me. I knew that his goal was about an end of 4.30, so depending on my rhythm, I could catch up with them (spoiler alert, I did not find them and ended up running the whole of the race alone, but they had a day of cracking for the first Marathon of Aubrey!)
Around a mile side I stayed aside to adjust my sock, and feeling a pressure point on my shoes and miracle if I had made a big mistake when wearing new shoes. Grateful to rebuilding my sock seemed to solve the problem and I did not think about my shoes again.

The first past miles quite fast, I feel that I spent more. Or the issue considers me to reduce the speed when I saw a 9.XX rhythm, thinking that maybe I should run more than 10 minutes depending on my easy careers in training. I knew that my friend Tash (who had gone to help me with the content) would be 7 miles: I equipped my tracker was playing, so it was a surprise when I shouted her name.
I strongly recommend agreeing with their viewers in advance where they will be and on which side of the road. It makes it much more important to be seen. My mother usually brings a helium balloon with her when she can and uses a bright pink coat.

Rupture
Before starting the race, I knew that I would probably need to use the year in the course. Remember that those really long rich in the starting village, well, think about how many people used them and imagine the smell (I’m sorry if you are eating!) The bathroom in which I entered did not have a bathroom and my eyes began to water/Pocy when I closed jumped again. A last minute toilet stop combo and loading nitrate meean that a break from a mile 11 was needed.

Hydration stops
Km 20 was my first bottle of hydration in the course and where I had planned to see Tash again. Personal drink stops were quite easy to navigate, with 3 usual bottles of bottles without partisan order. I was running quick enough not to detect mine, but knowing that people have been completely lost before. It is worth obtaining a very distinctive bottle and decorating it with a flag or something obvious if you did it because using them for a PB attempt.
My divisions were quite even at each 5K control point and tried to concentrate on those who traced me at home receiving small updates or how I was. This is one of the first races that I have directed son of only without close friends or my mother (who is going through the treatment of breast cancer today) and instead of thinking about how sad it was that she was the hair of A, I focused, concentrated, I concentrated. Mey sown sown sown. racing. When things became difficult, I thought about how strong the last six months of treatment has lasted.
I found my bottles in km 25 and 30, as well as whistle water of most of the water stations in the course. In addition to Racing Village and Expo chaos, the race is incredible well organized and found that water stops are easy to navigate with many recycling containers for their plastic vessels (they are more difficult to fold and drink on the march than paper cups).

Race Maths told me that he could scream less than 4.10 if he gathered the rhythm in the last kms.
While I had no close friends in the course, I knew that I would see Westin’s team in Km 41 and I saw several mats on the route that really lifted my spirits. I also thought about the points that some of my rapid friends had already finished and probably on the way to Tracksmith to collect a poster!
I think I was a bit excited about seeing friends in rapid succession in Km 40-41 and almost great, a stitch running to Olympia just before the Brandenburg door! She and I with the duration of a Westin Run in Global Running Day in 2022 and since then we have seen ourselves in Berlin and Barcelona: I love the connections you make through Running and IG.
The final thrust felt like a sprint and Stava data tells me that it was my fastest mile of the race, but my mental mathematics were off and I crossed in 4.11.04.

And it exploded in tears.
Oh, and I’m not talking about some bright tears on my cheeks.
The appropriate sob to have overcome the race, training, the six most difficult months of my life due to what was happening to those around me.
Thanks to the runner who asked me if I was well, he suggested that we go to our beers and accompanied me back to the hotel (in addition to the numerous photos I asked him to take! Greetings @StevenqPr here is the credit of your photo!)

After the race
I sent a text message to Tash in advance that asked him to order some fried potatoes and a diet -cool (my favorites after the marathon) in Westin Grand. Berlin before we went to the celebrations after the race on the roof terrace. Unfortunately, my stomach was quantilated to much more than a few sips of effervescence, but random, a coffee with pumpkin milk sounded incredible, so after a shower and some time in the recovery zone, we went back to the Brandstant star.
Thank you very much to Westin for the Babero and for the opportunity to be part of the Berlin Marathon weekend with them. I have made friends with the team there and makes a big difference to be close to people who support you personally and professional. And thanks to all who sent me a DM, they commented on a publication or just read my blogs over the years!
