A 16 -year -old boy died after getting into difficulties while swimming in a lake in Nottinghamshire.
The emergency services were called to Colwick Country Park when the child disappeared at 17:20 BST Wednesday, said Nottinghamshire police.
An underwater search team of the Police and the Fire Service also responded, finding the child’s body just before 20:00.
Cofre David Mather said: “This is a tragic discovery and our thoughts are with the family and friends of this child in this incredible difficult moment.”
“While the work is now on the way to understanding how the child entered into difficulty, I would like to take this opportunity to highlight this case as a reminder of the devastating consequences of open waters,” added Chers Mather.
“As in this tragic case, open waters may have hidden dangers that can try fatal and urge anyone who passes at any time of open waters to use this case as a devastating reminder of that.”
The child’s death occurs when parts of the United Kingdom will experience the hottest day of the year so far.

Police confirmed that the child’s death was not treated as a suspicious and said a file for the coroner would prepare.
The Tom Staples group manager, or the Fire Service and Rescue of Nottinghamshire, said rescuers had tirelessly worked the search.
He reinforced the message about the dangers of swimming in open waters, adding: “We urge everyone to take care of lakes, rivers and other natural bodies or water.”
The Country Park is administered by the Nottingham City Council.
The executive member of the City Council, Sam Lux, said: “This is an absolutely tragic incident and our hearts are with the family and friends of the young man who has died sadly.
“As the current warm spell continues and measure that we approach the summer season, we urge people to follow the guide in Colwick Park and other sites and not enter the water unless it is part of the Open Water Swimming sessions supervised Coply.”
