King Jorge III, Queen Charlotte and her many children spent happy, as well as unhappy, in Kew Palace, a small and lovely historical house set in the land of Kew Gardens in London.

In 1771, Charlotte had a cabin built for her in the Kew Gardens gardens called Queen Charlotte’s Cottage. Like the Petit Trianon by Marie Antoinette in Versailles, the cabin was used as a bucolic retreat. George III and Queen Charlotte also installed a collection or animals, including the country’s first kangaroos in the early 1790s.

The Queen Charlotte cabin is open on weekends and holidays only from 11.30 (the last entry is at 15.30).

Kew Palace is open every day from 11.00 with the last admission at 16.00. Be sure to visit the royal kitchens and the Garden of Herbs next to Kew Palace.
